Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing poverty levels in nine cities in East Java, focusing on the unemployment rate, labor force participation rate, economic growth, and human development index. The method used in this research is panel data regression analysis with classical assumption testing, utilizing data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) over the period from 2013 to 2023.The results indicate that the unemployment rate and human development index have a significant positive impact on the increase in poverty levels. Conversely, the labor force participation rate and economic growth do not show a meaningful effect on poverty. This research concludes that to reduce poverty levels in urban areas of East Java, local governments need to enhance job opportunities and provide skill development facilities for the community.
