Abstract
Futsal requires high physical performance, including agility, strength, speed, and flexibility. One of the muscles that plays a crucial role in supporting performance is the hamstring, as it is involved in knee flexion and hip extension movements, as well as serving as a key support during kicking. However, preliminary studies show that most players of the Kawat Duri Malang Futsal Club have low hamstring flexibility, indicating the need for appropriate interventions to improve it. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) and Massage Gun in improving hamstring flexibility among futsal players. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach, involving 30 respondents divided into two intervention groups. The first group received AIS, while the second group received Massage Gun treatment, each for six weeks with a frequency of three times per week. Flexibility was measured using the sit and reach test in both pretest and posttest. The analysis results showed that both AIS and Massage Gun significantly improved flexibility (p < 0.05). However, the comparison test between the groups showed no significant difference (p > 0.05). In conclusion, both AIS and Massage Gun are equally effective in improving hamstring flexibility in futsal players, making them suitable alternatives for stretching exercises and injury prevention.
