ANALISIS KUALITATIF KONTEN BERITA ONLINE TERHADAP PENGGUNAAN HIDROKUINON SEBAGAI SEDIAAN TOPIKAL DI INDONESIA

Background: Hydroquinone is a chemical that is often added to facial skin
whiteners. This chemical plays a role in inhibiting the formation of melanin, which
is a skin pigment to protect against the dangers of the sun's ultraviolet rays which
can have negative effects on the skin.
Research Objectives: To find out what information regarding the use of
hydroquinone appears and is widely discussed in the online news media and to find
out whether the information regarding the use of hydroquinone in topical
preparations in Indonesia is correct in the online news media.
Method: The method used is descriptive qualitative or literature study from various
online news portals. The keywords used for news searches are "Use of
Hydroquinone in Topical Preparations". With a range of years of publication (2017-
2021). In this research, the data that will be processed is assisted by the use of Nvivo
12 plus software.
Results and Conclusions: Data processing using the Nvivo 12 plus application is
information that is often discussed in online news content, namely skin and
hydroquinone. Words that are often discussed in the use of hydroquinone as a
topical preparation are side effects and types of topical preparations which occupy
a larger area than other articles. Meanwhile, the topics in the table of summary are
irritation and cancer, where these topics are in accordance with existing scientific
journals.
