Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the Fun Football GO community interprets the YouTube content of Coach Justin, which discusses the dismissal of coach Shin Tae-yong and the appointment of Patrick Kluivert as the new head coach of the Indonesian national football team. The research question formulated in this study focuses on how the audience interprets the messages conveyed in the video. The purpose of this research is to understand how members of the community respond to the issue of the national team’s coaching change. The study employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interview technique, involving five members of the Fun Football GO community as research subjects. The findings indicate that the participants predominantly occupy a dominant-hegemonic position, reflecting a shared perspective among community members regarding the coaching change. This similarity in viewpoints is influenced by their background as football enthusiasts who actively engage in discussions about football-related topics. The study suggests that sports content creators, such as Coach Justin and others, should present content that is more informative, balanced, and educational, considering that content creators play an important role in shaping public perception.
