Abstract

Indonesia obtained anaverage score in science in the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment), ranking 63rd out of 73 participating countries, indicating that education inIndonesia is still uneven and requires learning that canenhance creative thinking. Indonesia's low PISA score emphasizes the need for learning thatcan improve students' creative abilities, which are important competenciesin this era. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Conservation-based Learning model onstudents' creative thinking abilities in the subject of Plant Growth and Development regarding adaptation and climate change mitigation. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a quantitative approach. A simple random sampling technique was usedto determine the experimentaland control classes, namely class IX A as the control class and class IX E as the experimental class. The research instrument used five essay questions. The data collected was then analyzed using a One-way ANCOVA test. The results of theanalysis showed that the CBL model had an effect on students' creative thinking skills (p = 0.000 < 0.05) with an increase of2 4% in the experimental class and 15% in the control class, with a difference level of 9%. The results of this study indicate that the Conservation-based Learning (CBL) learning model has an effect on improving creative skills in theexperimental class compared to the control class, which used theDiscovery Learning learning model.
