Abstract
The issue of unemployment is a complex problem faced by all countries, both developing and developed. This study aims to analyze the influence of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Domestic Investment (DI), Provincial Minimum Wage (PMW), and inflation on the Open Unemployment Rate (OUR) in Indonesia. The data used in this study is balanced panel data covering the period 2019-2023 and 11 provinces with the highest open unemployment rates in Indonesia. The analysis results show that GDP has a negative and significant impact on the unemployment rate, indicating that a decrease in GDP will increase the unemployment rate.PMDN also has a significant negative impact on the TPT, indicating that a decrease in domestic investment affects the increase in unemployment due to the reduction of projects that absorb labor. On the other hand, the increase in the Minimum Wage (UMP) shows a positive and significant impact on the Unemployment Rate (TPT), indicating that the increase in UMP can reduce unemployment, although it also increases competition in the labor market.Inflation, although it has a positive impact on the unemployment rate, does not show strong significance.Based on these findings, several policy recommendations that can be taken include: stimulating regional economic growth through increased GRDP, encouraging domestic investment to create more job opportunities, managing the increase in the minimum wage wisely to avoid burdening companies, and keeping inflation under control. In addition, it is important to enhance the skills of the workforce through training and education that are relevant to market needs. The implementation of these policies is expected to reduce the unemployment rate and encourage the creation of more sustainable jobs, thereby achieving balanced and stable economic growth.
