Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the Ummi method on the fluency of reading the Qur'an of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. The background of this study is based on the importance of the ability to read the Qur'an well and correctly as a basis for understanding Islamic teachings, as well as the still found students who are not fluent in reading the Qur'an. The Ummi method is a systematic, practical, and fun method of learning the Qur'an, with an emphasis on correct makhraj, tajwid, and reading fluency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational research type. The study population was all eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Malang, with a sample of 49 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using validity and reliability tests, as well as simple linear regression tests to determine the influence between variables. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Ummi method has a significant effect on the fluency of reading the Qur'an of students. Students who participated in the Ummi method showed improved ability to pronounce the hijaiyah letters according to their makhraj, apply the rules of tajweed, and read the Quran more fluently and eloquently. Furthermore, the Ummi method also increased students'motivation,
self-confidence, and discipline in learning the Quran. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Ummi method is an effective approach to improving the quality and fluency of Quran recitation in junior high school students.
