Abstract

Background: Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a medical condition characterized by abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries, usually above 140 mmHg for systolic pressure or 90 mmHg for diastolic pressure. Hypertension exercises are a form of physical activity to help lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Hypertension exercises involve movements that stimulate reflex points. These reflexes improve blood circulation, nutrients, and oxygen.
Objective: This study aims to analyze the implementation of hypertension exercises on blood pressure in the elderly.
Methods: The research method used in this Final Project is a case study report using two elderly patients with hypertension. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis.
Results: The author identified two nursing diagnoses: ineffective peripheral perfusion and knowledge deficit. After providing nursing care in the form of hypertension exercises, one of the two nursing diagnoses was resolved, while the other was partially resolved.
Discussion: Hypertension exercises are a practical and easy-to-do non-pharmacological intervention for the elderly to lower blood pressure. Performing hypertension exercises once a week for approximately 30 minutes has been shown to lower blood pressure when combined with a healthy lifestyle.
