Abstract
Background: Reumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease associated with a chronic inflammatory process, which can damage joints and extra-articular organs, including the heart, kidneys, lungs, digestive system, eyes, skin and nervous system. The prevalence of RA sufferers in Indonesia is estimated at around 1.3 million people and is dominated by women. Objective: The aim of this study is to understand the experiences of patients with Reumatoid Arthritis. Method: This research design uses a qualitative research design with a case study approach. In this research, researchers used a purposive sampling technique. Purposive sampling is a technique for determining samples with certain considerations with the aim of ensuring that the samples taken are in accordance with the research objectives. The process used to collect this data is by using in-depth interviews. The interview will be conducted at the patient's home in Tanggul District, Jember Regency. Results: The results of this research were the discovery of several cases which were then divided into 6 themes, namely physical discomfort due to chronic pain, limitations in daily activities, self-stigma and social isolation, sleep disturbances due to chronic pain, adaptation to non-medical treatment, and loneliness due to social limitations and family distance. These six themes are the impacts of Reumatoid Arthritis. Conclusion: Overall, Reumatoid Arthritis not only affects physical aspects but also has significant psychosocial impacts. Therefore, comprehensive management that includes medical, psychological, and social aspects is essential for improving the quality of life of patients
