Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Problem-Based Learning model in Civics on the learning outcomes of grade 3 students at SDN Pakiskembar 2. The background of this study is based on the assumption that the Problem-Based Learning model, which focuses on solving real-world problems, can significantly improve conceptual understanding and student learning outcomes.
The research method used was a quantitative experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of two groups: an experimental group using the Problem-Based Learning model and a control group using conventional learning. Learning outcome data were obtained through evaluation tests administered before and after the treatment.
The results of statistical calculation data analysis (Mann Whitney Test) showed that there was no significant difference between the learning outcomes of students in the experimental group and the control group. The average value of the learning outcomes of both groups tended to be similar, indicating that the differences were not strong enough to be concluded as a significant influence of the Problem Based Learning model. These results suggest the need for further evaluation of other factors that may influence student learning outcomes, such as the duration of implementation, student characteristics, or teacher competence in implementing the learning model optimally.
