Studi Performa Produksi Burung Murai Batu Pada Penangkaran Lokal Di Kota Mojokerto

The objective of this study was to determine the production performance of the White-rumped Shama in local breeding facilities in Mojokerto City. The research materials consisted of 10 experienced bird breeders, each owning 10 White-rumped Shama birds (5 males and 5 females). The male birds were at least one year old, while the females were at least seven months old. Breeders were selected using a purposive sampling method based on the criterion of having at least two years of breeding experience. The research method employed was observational, involving interviews and direct observations of the detailed reproductive process of the White-rumped Shama. The observed variables included the type of feed provided, the number of eggs produced (hen-day production/HDP), incubation period, the number of successfully hatched eggs, weaning age, and the interval before the next egg-laying period. The collected data were analyzed descriptively. Observations from 10 experienced breeders showed that the average number of eggs produced per breeding pair was three, with an average incubation period of 18 days. On average, two eggs hatched successfully per pair. The birds resumed laying eggs after an average of 11.16 days. Feed types varied among breeders, and chicks were typically weaned at 30 days of age. The results of this study indicate that the production performance of the White-rumped Shama in local breeding facilities in Mojokerto City is relatively good. These findings suggest that the breeding conditions and management practices in Mojokerto City have effectively supported the optimal productivity of the White-rumped Shama.
