Abstract
Background: Hallucinations involving hearing can affect the patient's attention, communication, and social relationships, and have the potential to trigger dangerous actions. This study focuses on a psychiatric nursing care plan that aims to reduce the problems experienced by patients, through the provision of Implementation Strategies (SP) as a standard of nursing care. Specifically, this study tested the addition of Thought Stopping therapy given for 5 days, along with the application of SPTK in patients with thought process disorders.
Method: This study is a case study study, with one person as a respondent who was treated at UPT Binalaras Pasuruan. The effectiveness of therapy was measured using the Psychotic Symptom Rating Scale (PSYRATS), data collection was carried out by interview, observation, and documentation.
Results: The results of the PSYRATS assessment before thought stopping therapy showed a score of 14, indicating that the patient was experiencing moderate hallucinations. After undergoing thought stopping therapy for 5 days, the patient's score decreased to 13, which is in the low-level hallucination category. There was a decrease of one score in patients before and after the intervention, a change as small as this is considered insignificant, which means that thought stopping therapy has not had a large or clear effect on the patient's condition. Patient readiness and concentration are very important for the success of this method.
Conclusion: Researchers have limited understanding of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for thought stopping therapy, which results in inappropriate use of therapy for patients. This situation is made worse because patients have difficulty maintaining concentration and focus during therapy sessions, making this therapy that requires high attention ineffective due to disturbances in the patient's thought process.
