Abstract

Sexual violence is a harsh reality that still occurs frequently around us. It's not only prevalent in the real world but also prominently depicted in the media, including films. One film that boldly addresses this issue is Gina S's "Like and Share." This film highlights the story of two teenage girls who face various forms of sexual violence while searching for their identities. This study aims to examine how sexual violence is interpreted through signs in the film "Like and Share," using a qualitative approach to deeply understand the meaning of sexual violence against women. The method used is Roland Barthes's Semiotics, which examines the meaning behind symbols, scenes, and dialogue. The results of this study indicate that "Like and Share" not only depicts violence graphically but also conveys profound messages about power inequality, biased social norms, and the lack of a safe space for victims to speak out. Through powerful visuals, audio, and narrative, this film successfully raises awareness that sexual violence is not a trivial matter and must be understood as a serious issue that has long-term impacts on victims.
