Abstract

The film Budi Pekerti by Wregas Bhanuteja reflects the prevalent phenomenon of cyberbullying in digital society. This study aims to identify and analyze the forms of cyberbullying represented within the film. Employing a descriptive interpretative qualitative content analysis method, this research analyzes the scenes in the film based on Nancy Willard's theory of cyberbullying.

The findings indicate that the two dominant forms of cyberbullying emerging in the film are denigration and harassment. Denigration is manifested through the dissemination of reputation-damaging content, while harassment is evident from recurrent attacks that consistently humiliate the victim in the public digital sphere. These findings suggest that the forms of cyberbullying in the film Budi Pekerti reflect the social reality of digital society, which remains vulnerable to aggressive, impulsive behavior and public judgment devoid of empathy.

Thus, the film Budi Pekerti does not merely portray the phenomenon of cyberbullying as a personal issue, but also as a form of social critique against Indonesian digital society. The film asserts that low levels of empathy and a lack of digital ethics awareness possess the potential to turn social media spaces into a medium for symbolic violence that erodes human values.
