ANALISA INTERVENSI AROMATERAPI PEPPERMINT PADA PASIEN DENGAN DIAGNOSA MEDIS CA COLON YANG MENJALANI KEMOTERAPI DI RUANG PANGANDARAN RSUD DR. SAIFUL ANWAR KOTA MALANG

Background: Colon Ca is a type of cancer that occurs in the colon or rectum. This cancer begins when normal cells in the wall of the colon or rectum change into uncontrolled cancer cells. Some known risk factors for the colon include poor diet (low fiber, high fat), lack of physical activity, excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, smoking, and a family history of this cancer. Most cases of colon cancer are cancer that attacks the large intestine, which is the final part of the digestive system. Chemotherapy is one of the treatments for administering drugs to inhibit and kill cancer cells. Sometimes the effects of chemotherapy drugs can also disrupt normal cells, resulting in side effects of the drug that are usually felt by patients, including nausea, vomiting, hair loss and diarrhea. Aromatherapy has many benefits, one of which is to prevent and reduce nausea and vomiting. Peppermint aromatherapy contains menthol (35-45%) and menthon (10-30%). Peppermint oil helps relax digestive muscles during stomach cramps or acute digestive disorders.
Research Method: This type of research uses the research design method used is qualitative with a case study approach (Case Study Research). The case study is to explore the problem of nursing care in providing peppermint aromatherapy intervention to patients with a medical diagnosis of ca colon who are undergoing chemotherapy in the Pangandaran ward at Dr. Hospital. Saiful Anwar Malang City.
Results: The results obtained after carrying out the intervention for 3 days were a decrease in the level of nausea in ca colon patients with chemotherapy using peppermint aromatherapy intervention.
Conclusion: Based on case study analysis of the administration of aromatherapy to ca colon patients with chemotherapy experienced a significant reduction in nausea levels.
