Abstract
Background: Acute pain is a common problem, often associated with discomfort caused by pain that has persisted for less than three months. There are no specific symptoms for acute pain; if left untreated, it can disrupt the patient's daily activities. Therefore, non-pharmacological therapy is needed to address this phenomenon. Therefore, this final paper aims to describe the nursing care process for Mr. K, a patient with acute pain who is undergoing treatment in the Fatahillah Ward of Kanjuruhan Regional Hospital, Malang Regency.
Method: This research uses a case study report to compile the paper. The writing follows the scientific method in accordance with the principles of the nursing process. During the assessment, the author used various data collection techniques, such as anamnesis, observation, and physical examination, to gather various data from Mr. K.
Intervention: The intervention taught focused on Mr. K, whose pain persisted. This intervention took the form of teaching deep breathing relaxation therapy. After understanding how to relax, the patient practiced this therapy for 15 minutes during the duration of the pain. Following the intervention, observations were made on the patient's behavior, facial expressions, and vital signs. The hope was that the intervention would improve the patient's comfort and reduce pain.
Results: After three days of nursing care and follow-up, the patient appeared to improve on the second day after the intervention. There were no complaints of pain, and his vital signs began to improve. On the third day, after further examination by the doctor, Mr. K was allowed to go home.
Conclusion: Mr. K's nursing problem, which was persistent and persistent acute pain, could be resolved with the researcher's intervention, namely teaching deep breathing relaxation therapy, which is effective in managing acute pain, although it takes time to resolve the pain.
