Abstract

This final project report discusses the role of the producer in the production of the short fiction film 404, a work that explores the issue of modern slavery through a fictional and experimental approach. The film tells the story of Arundaya, a woman trapped in oppression under the rule of Batara Kala. Using a non-dialogue format and visual symbolism, the film aims to deliver a powerful social message.
As the producer, the author of this report was responsible for all stages of production, from concept development and scriptwriting to crew and cast recruitment, as well as the execution and distribution strategy of the film. This report also includes a literature review covering film as a medium of mass communication, the characteristics of short films, and the roles and responsibilities of producers in the context of short film production.
The production methodology of 404 is described in detail, including production design, production planning, and distribution strategy. The process consists of three main phases—pre-production, production, and post-production—each of which is explained thoroughly along with the challenges encountered and the solutions implemented.
The report concludes by emphasizing the importance of effective collaboration and efficient production management in creating impactful films. It also offers recommendations for improvement in future film productions.
