Abstract
Occupational-related diseases, particularly Low Back Pain (LBP),
represent a significant health concern in Indonesia, with a prevalence rate of 18%
among workers. Agricultural workers, who frequently engage in physically
demanding tasks and assume non-ergonomic working postures, are at heightened
risk of developing LBP. Additionally, elevated Body Mass Index (BMI) may
exacerbate this condition. This study aims to examine the relationship between BMI
and LBP occurrence among farmers in Bulus Village, Tulungagung Regency, with
the objective of providing insights for more effective interventions to reduce LBP
incidence in the agricultural sector.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationship between Body Mass Index
(BMI) and the incidence of Low Back Pain (LBP) among farmers in Bulus Village,
Tulungagung Regency.
Method: This research applies a correlational method with a cross-sectional
design.
Results: The results of this study indicate a significant relationship between Body
Mass Index (BMI) and the incidence of Low Back Pain (LBP) among farmers in
Bulus Village, Tulungagung Regency. The majority of respondents are aged between
51 and 60 years (66.7%), and 94.4% have worked as farmers for more than five
years. Additionally, 55.6% reported working more than eight hours per day, and
66.7% identified as active smokers. Furthermore, 55.6% of the farmers fall into the
overweight category based on BMI distribution, and 61.8% experienced LBP with
symptoms ranging from mild to severe
