Abstract

The construction of the Sultan Alimuddin – Kakap Tunnel in Samarinda City is a high-risk infrastructure project with considerable complexity. This study aims to analyze the implementation level of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices and their contribution to project performance. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 95 respondents comprising various categories of construction workers. The independent variables in this study include six key aspects of OHS implementation: management commitment, regulations and procedures, communication, worker competence, worker involvement, and the physical work environment. The dependent variable is project performance, assessed through indicators of quality, timeliness, safety, and environmental management. The results indicate that all aspects of OHS implementation are classified as “Good,” with the highest score in worker involvement (79.19%) and the lowest in management commitment (77.85%). Project performance is also categorized as “Good” with an average score of 77.98%. These findings affirm that consistent implementation of OHS contributes positively to the success of construction projects. The study recommends enhancing training, improving communication, and increasing worker involvement to optimize OHS performance in future infrastructure projects.
