Abstract

Parenting is an interactive process between parents and children to support developmental processes such as physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual. Children with disabilities are children who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory limitations. Children with disabilities also have the same rights as normal children in general, including: (1) receiving special protection from discrimination, neglect, harassment, and violence and sexual crimes; (2) receiving care and foster care from family or substitute families for optimal growth and development; (3) having their interests protected in decision-making; (4) treating children humanely in accordance with the child's dignity and rights; (5) fulfilling special needs; (6) being treated equally with other children; and (7) receiving social assistance. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the issue of caring for children with disabilities requires an understanding of their needs, such as education, medical treatment, independence, and socialization. Therefore, it is hoped that the care provided can be carried out in accordance with the proper functioning of children with disabilities at the Malang City Disabled Children's Development Foundation.
