Abstract

Background: Unergonomic work posture is a risk factor for musculoskeletal disorders in educators, particularly those resulting from prolonged static activity.
Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between work posture and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders in educators at Muhammadiyah University of Jember.
Methods: This study used an observational analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 14 lecturers who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) instrument to assess work posture and the Nordic Body Map (NBM) to identify musculoskeletal complaints.
Results: Normality tests indicated that the REBA data were not normally distributed, so bivariate analysis was performed using the Spearman-rho test. The correlation test showed a significance value of p = 0.207 (> 0.05), indicating no significant relationship between work posture and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders.
Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that work posture does not directly contribute to the development of musculoskeletal disorders in educators. This finding indicates the need to consider other factors such as age, physical activity, work environment, and daily habits in efforts to prevent musculoskeletal disorders in educators.
