DUKUNGAN SOSIAL KELUARGA TERHADAP UPAYA MEWUJUDKAN KUALITAS HIDUP LANSIA DI PONDOK LANSIA AL-ISHLAH BLIMBING, KOTA MALANG

Old age, loneliness, less prosperous socioeconomics and the emergence of degenerative diseases cause elderly productivity to decline and affect the social life of the elderly. To provide reinforcement to the elderly with various problems faced, of course, there needs to be support from the family and the surrounding environment. Social support aims to help improve the quality of life of the elderly. But at this time many families entrust elderly family members to the elderly cottage. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type, data collection techniques are carried out by means of observation, interviews and documentation, while data analysis techniques are carried out by qualitative analysis of interactive models. Family social support for realizing the quality of life of the elderly in the Al-Ishlah elderly cottage is carried out by providing emotional support, appreciation support, instrumental support and information support by the family. With the support provided, the elderly feel more happy, loved, not forgotten and not left alone. The supporting factors are the existence of emotional bonds, close proximity, a sense of responsibility and the obligation to visit from the Al-Ishlah Elderly Cottage, while the inhibiting factors are the busyness of the family and also the distance. Suggestions from researchers for families should be able to pay more attention to the condition of the elderly. When conducting family visits, they should also pay attention to the mental state of the elderly not only physical conditions, while for the cottage they can provide light activities, especially for elderly people who are still productive so that the elderly do not feel bored.
