Abstract

The ability to write narrative texts in elementary school students is still relatively low. The results of observations at SDN Tlekung 1 showed that only 28% of fourth grade students reached the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM), with most students having difficulty developing ideas and composing stories as a whole. This condition is exacerbated by the absence of concrete learning media. This study aims to develop a visually designed, concrete, and interactive learning media for Story Lanterns to improve narrative text writing skills.
The research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model. The Story Lantern media was developed in the form of a tool made of iron plate containing story cards, storyboards, picture illustrations, guidebooks. The results of material expert validation scored 92%, while media expert validation reached 90%, both in the “very valid” category. The pilot test on 13 boys and 12 girls showed an increase in writing scores from 68 to 84, and 84% of students reached or exceeded the KKM. Students' response to this media was very positive, with 88% stating that they were helped in composing narrative text. In conclusion, the Lentera Cerita learning media is feasible to use in Indonesian language learning, especially to improve the ability to write narrative texts in elementary school students.
