Abstract
The problem of organic waste accumulation in markets has not been optimally managed, causing piles of waste that pollute the environment. One solution to this problem is to produce vermicompost using Lumbricus rubellus earthworms fed with fermented organic waste from markets. This study aims to identify the microorganisms present in vermicompost produced from fermented organic market waste and to analyze its potential as a biological learning resource. The research was conducted using a descriptive exploratory method through the identification of bacterial and fungal morphology via macroscopic, microscopic, and biochemical tests. The results showed that the microorganisms found included Enterobacter spp., Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae, with different dominant types depending on the type of waste fermented. The study was also analyzed based on six criteria for biological learning resources and was found to have potential for use in teaching the “Environmental Change” curriculum in the Merdeka Curriculum for Grade 10 of Senior High School/Madrasah Aliyah Phase E, as well as for use as a learning resource for the general public.
