Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning difficulties experienced by deaf-speaking children in class 2A of SDN 1 Bantur. Children with hearing and speech impairments have their own challenges in following the learning process in regular classes, especially in understanding verbal instructions, communicating with teachers and peers, and mastering reading and writing skills.
This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subject was one deaf-speaking student in class 2A. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews with class teachers, students, and parents, and documentation.
The results showed that the student had difficulty in understanding lessons verbally, actively participating in class discussions, and showing learning outcomes that tended to be low compared to his classmates. Teachers try to overcome these barriers by using visual media, simple sign language and an individualized approach. This study recommends the need for more inclusive education support, teacher training, and parental involvement in the learning process of deaf-talking children.
