Abstract

Background: Low rates of exclusive breastfeeding are caused by problems with
breast milk production after delivery. Low breast milk production can lead to
inadequate nutritional intake for infants, which can disrupt their growth and
development. This can lead to psychological distress in mothers, such as anxiety,
which stimulates the hormone oxytocin, which can hinder exclusive breastfeeding.
This study aims to determine the relationship between postpartum maternal anxiety
and breast milk production.
Methods: This study employed a quantitative method, employing a cross-sectional
design. The sample size for this study was 24 postpartum mothers. The variables
observed were postpartum maternal anxiety and breast milk production. Data were
analyzed using descriptive statistics with the non-parametric Spearman correlation
test.
Result: The results of this study obtained significant values (sig.) orpvalue 0.288 >
0.05 then H0 is accepted which means there is no relationship between postpartum
maternal anxiety and smooth breast milk flow.
Conclusion : The result of this study indicate no correlation between postpartum
maternal anxiety levels and breastfeeding success. This could be due to several
factors, including age, occupation, or other factors.
