Abstract
In adolescents, the period of being in a relationship with the opposite sex has a function as a person's choice in determining a partner. There is a phenomenon where dating violence occurs, which can have a significant psychological impact. This research tries to identify whether teenagers' emotional intelligence plays a role in influencing the ability to forgive partners who are involved in dating violence. This research aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and forgiveness in adolescents who experience dating violence. This research uses a quantitative approach with a purposive sampling technique. The research subjects were 83 people with the criteria of individuals who had experienced dating violence for a minimum period of 1 year. The scale used is the Transregression-Related Interpersonal Motivation Inventory (TRIM-18), and the emotional intelligence variable is measured based on theoretical studies and adapted to Goleman's theory. The research results explain that there is no relationship between emotional intelligence and forgiveness from the sig value 0.364 > 0.05. The results of this research show that other factors also play an essential role in a person's ability to forgive, underlining the need to consider other variables that contribute to the relationship between emotional intelligence and forgiveness in adolescents who experience dating violence.
