Abstract
Background: Myofascial Trigger Point Syndrome (MTPS) is a musculoskeletal condition characterized by tender points in the muscles and fascia, which can cause local and diffuse pain, with a high prevalence in the upper trapezius muscle, especially in the productive age group. One of the interventions used to treat MTPS
is the dry needling technique, which consists of stationary and piston methods. Objective: To compare the differences in the effects of pistoning and stationary dry needling techniques in increasing Lateral Flexion AROM in Myofascial Trigger Point Syndrome M.Upper Trapezius. The instrument uses a goniometer to
determine the active range of motion lateral flexion.
Method: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test group approach. The subjects consisted of 30 people who were divided into two intervention groups. Data were analyzed using statistical tests to assess changes in AROM before and after the intervention. Results: The post-test results at the p-value Exact Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.98, which means the significance level >0.05.
Conclussion: There was no significant difference in the effect of dry needling using the stationary and pistoning methods on AROM lateral flexion in myofascial trigger point syndrome m.upper trapezius in both intervention groups.
