Abstract
In this technological era, many teachers still employ traditional methods, such as writing on the board and giving explanations, especially in reading English, which can bore students and negatively impact their learning scores. Teachers can apply learning methods using the Quizizz application, a tool that enhances reading skills, particularly in the context of learning English. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of the Quizizz application in improving reading skills in English. This research was conducted on teachers and students of SMA Laboratory UM Malang's class’ 11 IPS, using a qualitative approach. The primary data consisted of interviews, and the secondary data consisted of questionnaires. The difference between my research and other research is that my research focuses on class 11 social studies students at SMA Laboratory UM Malang, where they tend to have a lack of ability to understand questions and reading in English.
The findings reveal a four-bingers theme that appeared from the interview with the teacher: enthusiastic student in the class, Quizizz as a learning media, benefit from Quizizz for learning, and interactive learning. This concludes that the Quizizz application improves English reading comprehension; using features such as the paper mode in Quizizz offers convenience, helping reduce distractions and encouraging healthy competition among students. According to the teacher and students, Quizizz improves focus, confidence, and enthusiasm for learning, particularly reading. This is demonstrated by improved reading comprehension and vocabulary skills, which are crucial for academic success among students.
