Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive learning media in the form of Animal Metamorphosis Adventure Diorama (DIPEMORWA) for third-grade elementary school science lessons. The background of this study is the lack of interesting and interactive concrete media in teaching animal metamorphosis, which makes students less interested and difficult to understand the concept. Therefore, there is a need for learning media that is not only visual but also allows students to interact directly with it to enhance understanding and engagement in learning. The development of this media utilizes the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation.
The results of the development show that the DIPEMORWA media was successfully created in the form of a three-dimensional wooden diorama that can be rotated, equipped with audio explanations, and its parts can be disassembled and reassembled. Validation results from subject matter experts and media experts indicate that this media falls into the “highly suitable” category. Additionally, limited and extensive trials involving students and teachers demonstrated that this media effectively enhances students' interest, engagement, and understanding of animal metamorphosis material. The responses from students and teachers were very positive regarding the use of DIPEMORWA in the classroom.
Based on the research results, it can be concluded that DIPEMORWA is an interesting, interactive, and effective learning medium for delivering material on animal metamorphosis. This media can serve as an innovative alternative capable of addressing the learning needs of IPAS in elementary schools, particularly in conveying abstract concepts. DIPEMORWA also contributes to creating a enjoyable learning environment and is able to accommodate the characteristics of students in the concrete-operational stage in third grade. Therefore, DIPEMORWA is recommended for use and further development in the context of thematic learning in elementary schools.
