LITERASI PEDULI LINGKUNGAN MELALUI MEDIA BOARDGAME EDUKATIF DALAM UPAYA PENANGANAN LIMBAH POPOK BALITA SEKALI PAKAI (Studi Kasus di Area Program Wahana Visi Indonesia Kota Surabaya)

The study aims to analyze the development of environmental literacy through educational board game media as an effort to manage disposable baby diaper waste. The boardgame was disseminated by Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) in five assisted urban villages in Surabaya. This qualitative research used a single embedded case study design. Data were collected through six sources: documents, archives, interviews, direct observation, participant observation, and physical artifacts. The data analysis followed Robert K. Yin’s case study methods, including pattern matching, explanation building, and time-series analysis. The findings indicate that the boardgame effectively builds environmental literacy, especially among mothers of toddlers and local health volunteers. The game is engaging, easy to understand, and encourages active participation. Although not all participants consistently apply the recommended practices, behavioral changes were observed, such as disposing of feces into the toilet before discarding diapers. This proves that a literacy-based educational approach using playful media can be an effective strategy for addressing domestic waste issues in densely populated urban areas. The study recommends enhancing post-education monitoring and developing adaptive boardgame models to ensure the sustainability of environmental messages.
