UPAYA PENINGKATAN KUALITAS HIDUP LANSIA DI PANTI JOMPO HUSNUL KHATIMAH WAJAK

Improving the quality of life of the elderly is an important issue in the context of aging demographic changes in Indonesia. The elderly are vulnerable to decline in physical, psychological, social, environmental, and spiritual conditions that directly affect their well being. This study aims to describe the forms of services and facilities p by the Husnul Khatimah Wajak Nursing Home as an effort to improve the quality of life of the elderly. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Data were obtained through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with caregivers, nurses, and elderly, and documentation of the nursing home activities. The results show that efforts to improve the quality of life are carried out through five main aspects: (1) physical, fulfilling basic needs; (2) psychological, through emotional support; (3) social, involving the elderly in joint activities and interactions; (4) environmental, providing clean and comfortable facilities; and (5) spiritual, through routine religious activities. This holistic service has been proven to have a positive impact on improving the quality of life of the elderly in the nursing home. With a consistent and sustainable approach, the Husnul Khatimah Wajak Nursing Home is able to become a safe, comfortable, and dignified space for the elderly.
