Abstract

Extracurricular activities, as an essential part of education, provide an ideal space to develop various skill aspects. This research aims to: (1) describe the planning of extracurricular analysis for young journalists at SD Negeri 2 Karangrejo; (2) describe the implementation of extracurricular analysis for young journalists at SD Negeri 2 Karangrejo; and (3) describe the evaluation of extracurricular analysis for young journalists at SD Negeri 2 Karangrejo. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, involving the principal, the extracurricular advisor, and student participants. The data analysis process included data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions.
The findings indicate that the activity planning was based on the need to improve students’ public speaking skills by utilizing simple tools such as smartphones and editing applications. The implementation provided students with hands-on experience in composing interview questions, conducting interviews, and producing journalistic content, thereby encouraging the development of their communication skills. The evaluation revealed obstacles such as limited resources, student lack of confidence, and technical difficulties when dealing with sources. Furthermore, the program failed to adhere to journalistic standard operating procedures for planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating. Nevertheless, the activity generally made a positive contribution to developing students' talents and interests.
