Abstract
Background: Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is a clinical manifestation of coronary heart disease that can cause sudden death. Identification of risk factors that include clinical and socio-demographic aspects is very important in prevention and early treatment efforts.
Purpose: to identify the description of the causative factors of ACS in patients treated at the Cardiac Poli of RSU UMM.
Research Method: The design of this study was descriptive observational with a quantitative approach. A total of 40 ACS patients were selected using accidental sampling at the Cardiac Poli of UMM Hospital. Data were collected through medical records and questionnaires Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), and Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics.
Result: Clinical factors found included overeating (85%), hypertension (73%), moderate to severe stress (85%), dyslipidemia (57.5%), and low physical activity (92.5%). From the socio-demographic side, the majority of respondents had an average age of 59 years, consisted of men and women equally, their last education was high school (45%), and they worked as housewives (35%) and private workers (22.5%).
Conclusion: The dominant causative factors of ACS are modifiable and can be controlled through lifestyle changes. Community-based educational, promotive, and preventive interventions are needed to reduce the risk of ACS.
