Abstract
Background: Quality health services are one of the main indicators in assessing the success of a hospital. One method used to improve communication and coordination is through the implementation of middle conferences. With the middle conference, it is expected that the results of the nursing care evaluation will be more accurate. This study aims to determine the implementation of middle conferences in the inpatient ward of a referral hospital in East Java.
Method: This study uses a qualitative design with observation and in-depth interviews with the inpatient ward team of the East Java Referral Hospital, on January 20-25, 2025, to analyze the implementation of middle conferences in the inpatient ward of the East Java Referral Hospital.
Results: The implementation of the middle conference in the inpatient room of the East Java Referral Hospital is still not optimal because it is only implemented when there are management practice students, confirmed by the team head that the implementation of the middle conference is considered less effective because it is close to the implementation of the post conference. The implementation of the role play middle conference in the inpatient room of the East Java Referral Hospital obtained results in the form of more detailed data as handover material. By obtaining more detailed data, it is hoped that health services in the inpatient room of the East Java Referral Hospital will improve.
Conclusion: Before the intervention, the implementation of middle conferences in the inpatient ward of the East Java referral hospital in Malang City was 13-25%, after the intervention there was a significant increase to 100%. The role play activity of implementing middle conferences that had been implemented by nurses in the inpatient ward produced results, namely more detailed/accurate handover data. Proven by the handover data after the middle conference, more information was provided regarding updates on the patient's condition.
