Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of school habituation through the Juzmadharta program (Reading Juz Amma and Dharma Gita) in building students' character. The program is a school-based innovation designed to instill religious and moral values through regular scripture reading activities based on students’ respective religions and beliefs. Such habituation is expected to strengthen students' spirituality, discipline, and sense of responsibility from an early age.
This research employed a qualitative approach. The research subjects included the principal, religious education teachers, and students who were directly involved in the program's implementation. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and then analyzed using descriptive-qualitative techniques. The study focused on the implementation process, the support from the school environment, and the program’s impact on students’ character development.
The results indicate that the Juzmadharta program has been implemented consistently and has received positive responses from the school community. However, there are essential needs that must be addressed to enhance the program’s effectiveness, such as more systematic and sustainable planning, the provision of alternative facilities during unfavorable weather, and a more comprehensive character evaluation system. Meeting these needs could position the Juzmadharta program as an effective school habituation model for continuous character development among students.
