Abstract
Literacy is an essential skill that every student must possess. The School Literacy Movement (GLS) is an effort initiated by the government within schools to enhance students' literacy skills. The Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) is an evaluation conducted to measure students' abilities in two key competencies: literacy and numeracy. This study aims to describe the implementation as well as analyze the challenges and efforts in the implementation of the GLS in supporting AKM preparation at SDN Bendosari 3 Pujon.
This study employed a qualitative descriptive research design and was conducted in November 2024. Data sources included fifth-grade teachers, the school principal, and observations made by the researcher at SDN Bendosari 3 Pujon. Data collection methods consisted of interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis used three components, namely data reduction, data
presentation and conclusion drawing.
The results showed that SDN Bendosari 3 Pujon had implemented the GLS as an effort to support AKM preparation, starting with program planning tailored to the needs of the students. The activities included a 15-minute reading session before learning, followed by filling out a literacy journal. This program has proven to be quite helpful in improving students' readiness for the AKM. The program ran quite well without significant challenges from the teachers' side. However, challenges still exist in terms of facilities and infrastructure. To address these challenges, teachers have undertaken various efforts, demonstrating the school's commitment to creating a literacy-friendly environment that supports students' readiness for the AKM.
Based on the results of this study, it is recommended to use these findings as a reference in developing specific programs for GLS to support AKM preparation and to ensurehe success of the program's implementation.
