Abstract
Humans as social beings cannot live alone and always need the presence of others. Affection, understanding, information, and emotional support form the basis of relationships between individuals. Various studies show that a person's happiness is often influenced by a sense of being loved and needed (Chapman, 2010).
This study aims to understand how love language is used to maintain marital relationships. The Five Love Languages theory by Gary Chapman (2010) is referenced, including Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach using the case study method, through in-depth interviews with five married couples in Pesona Mutiara Tidar 2 Housing, Malang.
The results show that all couples use the five love languages in their daily lives, but with different intensities. Quality Time emerged as the most dominant love language, being the main means of building emotional attachment and maintaining closeness in the midst of busyness. Acts of Service is also often used, especially by wives, in the form of daily services as a tangible manifestation of love. Words of Affirmation, Receiving Gifts, and Physical Touch come as complements that enrich couples' interactions.
In conclusion, the use of love language depends on the couple's ability to understand and customize expressions of love according to each other's emotional needs. Appropriate use of love language helps strengthen relationships, reduce conflict, and create a harmonious and lasting marriage.
