Abstract

This study aims to explore the symbolic meaning of the ketupat lepet wedding gift in Paiton Village, Probolinggo Regency, through cultural symbols that are still practiced today. The research method employed is the constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews and observations, followed by data validity testing through triangulation of data sources. The results of this study reveal that ketupat lepet in the wedding gift tradition holds deep symbolic meaning for the local community. Ketupat lepet is not merely food or a traditional accessory but serves as a symbol of commitment, loyalty, and sincere intent in establishing or building a household.
