MAKNA DISKRIMINASI TERHADAP DISABILITAS DALAM FILM CODA

The CODA film raises the theme of discrimination against people with disabilities by using actors with special needs. This study aims to analyze how discrimination is visualized and interpreted symbolically in the film. By using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach, this study unravels the hidden meaning behind the symbols and signs in the film. The CODA film successfully presents a complex and impactful picture of the individual experience of disability while raising public awareness of the need for inclusion and equality. This film tries to raise family harmony in deficiencies and in it there are various conflicts whether it is the meaning of bullying, social inequality etc. The CODA film hopes to be a new understanding for its audience in a good and exemplary social life. Although this film has been studied in previous studies, there has not been an issue of discrimination as the main topic. Therefore, this study aims to fill this gap by paying special attention to the representation of disabilities that can be identified through dialogue scenes and narrative backgrounds in the film
