Abstract
This research aims to clarify how life skills programs enhance social functioning
in children's residing in Child Social Welfare Institutions. This research used a
qualitative methodology with a descriptive research design, concentrating on the
examination of life skills programs and children's social functioning within the
Child Social Welfare Institution. The research methodology involves in-depth
interviews with research subjects selected purposively. The research subjects were
selected from several supervisors and mentors with the criteria of having worked
at the Child Social Welfare Institution for at least 2 years and specifically handling
the life skills program at "Sanggar Anak," and being willing to be research subjects.
Documentation, interviews, and observation are the methods utilized to gather
data. The results of this investigation indicate that the life skills program supports
children who have previously struggled with social functioning or are currently
experiencing a period of growth and development. This is because children who
engage with the program will develop in the most ideal manner and accumulate
social traits, which are fundamental to human beings. The research's conclusions
emphasize the crucial role of social functioning in children and the need for parents
to be cognizant of their social functioning as they grow and develop. As a way to
enhance the children's technological abilities, the research suggests that the
Harapan Ummat Child Social Welfare Institution in Malang City offer additional
education sessions, namely computer education.
