Abstract
This study aims to analyze the handling process of hatching eggs in a laying hen hatchery and evaluate each stage of handling, from grading to the pull chick process. The study was conducted observationally on 14,400 fertile eggs from 56-week-old layer hens. The processes observed included grading, fumigation, storage in a cooling room, preheat, incubation in a setter machine, candling using an ERT (Egg Remover Transfer) tool, transfer to a hatcher machine, to the process of pulling chicks (pull chicks). The results of the observation showed that fertile eggs reached 90.05%, infertile 9.95%, and damaged eggs (explode) 0.14%. The hatching power achieved was 80.90% with a proportion of female DOC 39.63% and male 41.15%, and saleable chicks of 80.78%. The process is carried out with the support of modern technology such as Pas Reform brand setter and hatcher machines, AMF systems, and ERT, as well as optimal temperature, humidity, and ventilation management. These results indicate that the handling of hatching eggs has been carried out systematically and efficiently, and is able to produce quality DOCs according to commercial laying hen production standards.
