Abstract

Background: Late adolescents often experienced significant changed in sleep along with lifestyle changed, academic demands, and increased used of electronics. This phenomenon was also exacerbated by increased stress factors, anxiety and emotional disturbances that are often experienced at that age. Symptoms of sleep disturbance were also often overlooked as part of adolescent developmental problems, even though they had a very significant impact on their physical and mental health. Purpose: To determined the description of sleep pattern disorders in late adolescents. Methods: Qualitative method with interviews with two participants with the subjects Nn. E (P1) and Nn. Y (P2). This research was validated by source triangulation and used semi-structured interviews. Result: Analysis of data obtained by research from interviews that have been conducted with participants, then obtained 3 themes, namely 1) Causes of Sleep Pattern Disorders in Late Adolescents, 2) The impact of sleep pattern disorders results in physical, psychological / emotional, and academic, 3) Efforts to Overcome Sleep Pattern Disorders. Conclusion: it was important for adolescents to understand the importance of adequate and quality sleep in order to support their physical, mental health, and academic performance.
