Abstract

This research designs and develops an ESP32-powered IoT bird cage door security system incorporating fingerprint scanner and facial recognition. The system provides improved cage entry security with dual biometric authentication for authorized users. The hardware components used are a fingerprint sensor, a camera module, ESP32 as a processor, and a locking mechanism for a door. The application software on the ESP32 is in charge of coordinating sensors, camera module interactions, and running fingerprint identification and face recognition algorithms. User biometric data are stored in the system. The system is advantaged by integration on the Telegram platform. ESP32 is linked to the WiFi and provides real-time updates through Telegram upon every attempt at access (failed/success) and mode of access and time of incident. Users are also able to receive door status information. System testing was conducted to contrast the performance of fingerprint and face authentication under various conditions, as well as the reliability of network connectivity and the delivery of Telegram notifications. Expected outcomes suggest that this system can provide more effective and efficient security compared to conventional methods. This system not only increases the physical security of the cage, but also simplifies monitoring and management of remote access with real-time notification and door status updates via Telegram. This research is applicable to designing an efficient IoT security system for pet protection.
