Abstract

Muhammad Rofi Akbar Utomo 202010040311501, THE MEANING OF DYNASTY POLITICS IN THE FILM “TEPATILAH JANJI” (A Semiotic Analysis of Roland Barthes on the Meaning of Dynasty Politics in the Film “Tepatilah Janji”)
This study aims to analyze the meaning of dynasty politics in Garin Nugroho's film Tepatilah Janji using Roland Barthes's semiotic research method. This film was chosen because it depicts profound symbols that represent political issues leading up to the election. By analyzing the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth, the results show that the film Tepatilah Janji is not merely a spectacle, but also shows how power is reproduced through symbols such as family heritage, images of piety, and the rhetoric of promises. This study provides theoretical contributions by expanding the application of Roland Barthes's semiotics to film media, as well as practical benefits for society to better understand the meaning of dynasty politics and for the creative industry to produce meaningful works and encourage better political change.
