Abstract

Background : Discharge planning is a crucial component in the transition of care from hospital to home. However, a lack of understanding among patients and their families regarding the discharge process often hinders efficient care. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of visual media, such as banners, in improving patient families’ comprehension of hospital discharge procedures.
Methods : This is a quantitative case study involving 25 respondents observed before and after the installation of informational banners in the inpatient ward of RSUD Kota Malang. Data were collected using structured questionnaires.
Results : Prior to the intervention, 64% of respondents did not understand the discharge process. After banner installation, the percentage decreased to 12%, with 88% of respondents reporting improved understanding.
Conclusion : Educational banners are proven effective in enhancing patients' families' understanding of discharge procedures. Visual media like banners serve as a cost-effective and accessible educational tool to support hospital discharge planning.
