PENCIPTAAN KARYA FOTO JURNALISTIK BERBASIS LITERASI VISUAL PADA KOMPETISI PEKAN SENI MAHASISWA NASIONAL XV

Photojournalism is a journalistic practice that uses photographs as a medium to convey messages or news visually. Its aim is to document events objectively, accurately, and attractively to support effective news delivery to the public. This final project aims to produce photojournalistic works by applying a visual literacy perspective in the reality photography competition “National Student Art Week XV” (Peksiminas XV). The research focuses on the process of creating photojournalistic works using Maria Avgerinou’s visual literacy competencies, which include competencies for constructing visuals and competencies for interpreting visuals. The EDFAT method (Entire, Detail, Framing, Angle, Timing) is applied during the shooting process. The selection and curation process emphasizes the identification, contextualization, and interpretation of visual elements through critical viewing and meaning construction. The final result is a photojournalistic work titled “Gazing at a New Dawn on Mount Bromo,” which contributes to the Peksiminas XV reality photography competition.
