Abstract
This study aims to analyze audience reception of Deddy Corbuzier's podcast content discussing Alfiansyah “Komeng” Bustami's candidacy for the West Java Regional Representative Council (DPD). Using a qualitative approach and Stuart Hall's reception analysis theory, this study examines how members of the Stand Up Indo Malang community receive and interpret the messages in the podcast. Data was collected through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method with five comedians active in the community. The results indicate that the majority of the audience received the messages in a dominant-hegemonic position, with support for Komeng's candidacy seen as representing the aspirations of comedy artists. The subjects also supported the idea of a National Comedy Day, seen as an important effort to enhance recognition of the Indonesian comedy industry. This study reveals that humor serves as an effective communication tool for conveying social and political criticism, as well as raising public awareness of important issues. The podcast's content demonstrates the potential of social media, particularly podcasts, in advocating for social change and providing space for creativity in politics.
