Abstract
Background: Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) is a common health issue often experienced by adolescent girls during menstruation and can impact daily activities, including learning activities.
Objective:To determine the prevalence of menstrual pain and learning activities during menstruation in adolescent santri at Pondok Modern Al-Rifa’ie 2.
Methods: This research employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 104 female boarding school students were selected as respondents using consecutive sampling. Data collection was conducted using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) questionnaire to measure the severity of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) and a learning activity questionnaire covering eight indicators: visual, oral, listening, writing, drawing, motor, mental, and emotional activities.
Results: The study found that the majority of respondents experienced dysmenorrhea with moderate pain levels (48.1%), while 57.7% reported disrupted learning activities during menstruation, with the highest disruption in listening (53.8%) and emotional activities (51.9%).
Conclusion: Dysmenorrhea has a significant impact on the learning process of adolescent female students, particularly in aspects requiring concentration and emotional stability. This condition becomes increasingly significant in the boarding school environment, which has a dense and structured daily schedule.
