The Merdeka Curriculum comes as a government effort to improve the quality of education through more contextual and learner-centered learning. One of its main implementations is the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), which aims to instill noble values such as gotong royong. However, based on the field conditions, especially in the third grade students of SD Negeri 1 Pamotan, it is found that the character of mutual cooperation is still not optimally formed. Students tend to be individualistic and less concerned about the social environment, especially as a result of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze how the implementation of P5 activities can shape the character of mutual cooperation in students.
This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects in this study were class teachers and third grade students of SD Negeri
1 Pamotan. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research focused on the implementation of gotong royong activities in the P5 program, the role of the teacher as a facilitator, and changes in student attitudes during the implementation of the project activities.
The results showed that the implementation of P5 was actually able to shape and improve the character of mutual cooperation in students. Activities such as group work, class picket, and community service encourage students to help each other, share tasks fairly, and care for the surrounding environment. Teachers also implement strategies such as random group formation so that students can interact with diverse friends and learn to work together. The gotong royong characters developed in this project include collaboration, caring, and sharing attitudes that seem to grow over time.
